Ali Fazal lands Best Actor nomination in the Asia Content Awards by the Busan International Film Festival for his character of Ipsit Nair in Ray

Nominations for the Asia Content Awards were recently announced, and Ali Fazal bags the nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ispit Nair in Forget Me Not, one of the four films in the Ray anthology on Netflix. Directed by Srijith Mukherji, the story is a modern interpretation of Satyajit Ray’s story ‘Bipin Chaudhary Ka Smriti Bhram.’ Ali plays the role of a cut-throat corporate shark who never forgets anything and has a memory of a computer.

On the nomination, he says, "Wow! This was totally unexpected. I am so humbled to receive this nomination and it means a lot to be recognized by ACA. A lot of great content was produced this year in Asia and to land a nomination amongst such an impressive lineup of films and actors is an honour."

Nushrratt Bharuccha has also bagged the nomination for Best Actress for Ajeeb Daastaans on Netflix. The 3rd Asian Contents Awards (ACA) is run by the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM). The ACA aims to showcase outstanding TV, OTT, and online content from Asia. This year, the ACA was dominated by Korean drama and Netflix originals.

Vidyut Jammwal starrer Sanak to release on Disney+Hotstar on 15 October 2021

After announcing the release of Sanak – Hope Under Siege on Disney+ Hotstar last week, the makers – Vipul Amrutlal Shah and ZEE Studios have now revealed the release date of the hostage drama, starring Vidyut Jammwal, Bengali actress Rukmini Maitra, Neha Dhupia, and Chandan Roy Sanyal among others.

Directed by Kanishk Varma, Sanak will be releasing on 15 October 2021 on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. Along with the announcement, the makers have also unveiled a new movie poster featuring a determined Vidyut, holding a baby in one hand and a gun in another.

Expressing his excitement, Vipul Shah says, "I am very happy to announce the date of Sanak, which we shot under the most difficult circumstances of Covid-19. The sole purpose of putting all the effort was to keep entertaining people and again, as usual, we have tried to take the action a notch higher than the Commando series. I believe that we have achieved it."

"I hope audiences feel the same way when they see the action and emotion in Sanak. It will inhabit a very new space in Indian cinema; it's a hostage drama, a genre that has not been explored to its full potential. It would be interesting to see all the action and drama unfold in a hospital under a siege. I am very excited to share this date and looking forward to the film releasing on Disney+ Hotstar. Hopefully, we will get lots of love from the audience," the producer adds.

The movie marks the Bollywood debut of the gorgeous actress Rukmini Maitra, who enjoys huge popularity in the Bengali Film industry. Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd, helmed by Vipul Shah has treated the audiences with some interesting cinema spectacles. This time in collaboration with Zee Studios, his production ‘Sanak – Hope Under Siege’ is all set to bring out the emotional journey with action-packed sequences. While Vidyut plays the central character in the movie, he is pairing with the successful producer Vipul Shah for the fifth time in his career.

Starring Vidyut Jammwal, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Neha Dhupia, and Rukmini Maitra, Sanak - Hope Under Siege is presented by Zee Studios in association with Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd and will be streaming from 15th October only on Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex. It is a Vipul Amrutlal Shah production, directed by Kanishk Varma.

The Bollywood star has been turning heads with his incredible transformation as he battled obesity and came out stronger. He has maintained, “Not many know, but I have been battling obesity for the longest time. I was just not a fat kid, it was a health issue. It hasn’t been easy. My underlying health condition has always made it a struggle for me to constantly stay a certain size. While I have been criticised a lot for my physique, I have taken it on the chin because people expect actors to be seen in a certain body type. I understand that. They haven’t understood the struggle that I have gone through and it’s alright. I only have to prove it to myself and to people who believe in me.”

No ‘Sanskaari James Bond’ this time as CBFC passes No Time To Die with ZERO cuts; kissing scenes remain untouched

The 2015 James Bond film, Spectre, had run into a major controversy after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) played spoilsport or should we say, nanny. The then chairperson of the CBFC, Pahlaj Nihalani, reduced the kissing scene of the film to around 22 seconds. It got a lot of backlash from the fans as their favourite character was transformed from being sexy to being ‘Sanskaari’. #SanskaariJamesBond and #SanskaariCensorBoard trended for days and are two of the most memorable hashtags on social media in recent times.

Now as the next James Bond film, No Time To Die, is about to release, there were fears that once again, Agent 007 will have to go the ‘Sanskaari’ way. But in a pleasant turn of events, the CBFC this time has left the kissing scenes untouched.

A source told us, “No Time To Die has been passed with zero cuts. The film has some violence and also a few intimate scenes. But the CBFC this time did not ask for any reckless cuts. The studio was very happy that the CBFC examining committee understood the context of those scenes and didn’t make any unfair demands, unlike last time.”

No Time To Die was given the certificate on September 20 and has been passed with a U/A rating. The source said, “The film’s run time is 163 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 43 minutes. This makes No Time To Die the longest James Bond film ever. But if the film has enough entertainment and thrill, viewers won’t mind. The advance is encouraging and the film is set for a great opening.”

A few days back, Bollywood Hungama was the first to break the news that No Time To Die would be the first Bond film to be released in 3D. Starring Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux and Ana de Armas, it is also set to have a huge release in India as the total screen count is more than 1700.

Here's why Aamir Khan moved the release of Lal Singh Chaddha to February 2022

The Aamir Khan helmed Forrest Gump remake Lal Singh Chaddha has been rescheduled. Instead of Christmas 2021 it will now be released on Valentine’s Day 2022. This is in deference to the cluster of films awaiting their turn to be released after theatres in Maharashtra re-open on October 22.

A source close to the Lal Singh Chaddha project informs, “Aamir Khan and his co-producers Viacom 18 have voluntarily taken their film to February 2022. The Christmas week of 2021 (which is the week when Aamir traditionally releases his films) already has Kabir Khan’s ’83 (December 24), the Shahid Kapoor sports film Jersey (December 31) and Rohit Shetty’s Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus (December 31) lined up for release.

Producer-director Luv Ranjan who is readying his Ranbir Kapoor - Shraddha Kapoor starrer for a late 2022 release says a protocol has to be followed in the release schedules.

“Now that the movie theatres in Maharashtra are finally re-opening there are producers who have been patiently waiting in line. They will have to be given the right of way. It is the decent, morally correct thing to do. One can’t jump the queue. Filmmakers like Rohit Shetty and Kabir Khan have waited for over a year for a theatrical release. They will come first. The others will have to wait.”

The date is yet to be decided. A source in the know says the long-awaited film will stream during Diwali. “The date is yet to be decided but somewhere around November 3-4,” says the source.

Kartik Aaryan’s made-for-Netflix thriller has been in the news for a year now. Its streaming date has been deliberately held back by Netflix, as Dhamaka is being seen as a super-premium product for Netflix’s Indian market.

“It’s going to be a game-changer,” says a source from Netflix.

We can’t wait.
